What Is Amber Light Color?

Amber is used to describe a particular hue that lies between yellow and orange. Belonging to the orange color family, amber got its name from the fossilized resin of trees. Since its basic color is yellow, it is associated with warmth, happiness and vitality.

The wavelength of amber light is in the range of 600-615 nm. The color of light starts to turn yellow when the wavelength decreases below 600 nm and orange when it rises above 615 nm. Amber light color is close to 2200K color temperature.

Amber light has a wide range of uses such as decorative lights, traffic lights, warning lights, automotive lights and indicator lights.

Amber LED strips are widely used in decorative lighting installations. Because amber gives a relatively softer light and the disturbing effects of light are less. Amber lights offer a warm ambiance and retro (inspired by the past) style due to their similarity to incandescent lamps.

The light called yellow in traffic lights is actually amber. The amber light alerts drivers that the signal is about to turn red and prepares them to stop. Amber, which shows the transition between stop and go, fulfills a very important function for traffic safety.

Amber beacons are used in road assistance vehicles, security patrol vehicles, road construction and repair vehicles, vehicles such as trucks and forklifts. This is an early warning for other drivers and pedestrians.

Amber lights are used in the turn signals of cars. The amber light inside the headlights and taillights can be produced by halogen bulbs or LEDs. Amber is used in off-road vehicles to illuminate the road and the environment, as it can penetrate fog and snow particles in the air better than white.

Amber LEDs used in indicator lights are often used to indicate a temporary fault or malfunction that will not interfere with use. A yellow warning light on a car dashboard could indicate a faulty bulb. The amber warning light on a modem may represent a network conflict.

When using amber light sources in traffic signals, automotive lights and warning lights, it is necessary to carefully check local regulations. The tone, brightness and direction of the light should be determined according to these regulations.
